At Save the Family, we’ve been buzzing with activity as the AIMS project continues to transform lives. This initiative is all about supporting families to build brighter futures, and the progress so far has been truly inspiring. Here’s what we’ve been up to:
Mentoring for Wellbeing
Since the launch of AIMS, seven residents have worked one-on-one with Mentors to complete the wellbeing sections of the Person and Social Development Workbook. This tailored approach is helping individuals focus on their personal growth, laying the groundwork for long-term resilience and confidence.
Work Zone Coffee Morning Success
A recent coffee morning hosted by The Work Zone created a wonderful opportunity for residents to engage with educational and employment resources. The turnout was fantastic, with eight people signing up for Key Skills Maths and English courses, set to start in January. This marks an important step toward empowering residents with skills that open doors to new opportunities!
Housing Support at Your Fingertips
Navigating the housing system can be overwhelming, but we have been inviting a Cheshire West and Chester Housing Officer to our coffee mornings once a month, who is able to offer expert guidance to our families. So far, 12 families have benefited from their support, gaining confidence in registering for housing and tackling barriers. With their Mentors cheering them on, these families are on a positive path to finding secure homes.
Cooking Up a Storm
Our Community Kitchen project has been met with great enthusiasm! Eleven people have been eager to get involved, and with the encouragement of their support workers, they’re learning basic cooking skills and discovering budget-friendly meal ideas. On top of that, five participants have successfully completed their Food Hygiene Course, paving the way for more culinary adventures!
Festive Cheer and Family Feedback
The recent light switch-on event received glowing feedback from families who shared how special the experience was for them. These moments of joy remind us why we do what we do—it’s all about creating lasting memories and a sense of belonging.
