💜 October is Domestic Abuse Awareness Month.
Domestic abuse can affect anyone. and is a significant contributing factor to homelessness It can be physical, emotional, psychological, sexual, financial, or controlling behaviour, and its impact can be devastating for individuals, families, and especially children. Domestic abuse is recognised as more than physical violence and can include coercive and controlling behaviours.
At Save the Family, we understand that for many families experiencing homelessness or crisis, domestic abuse can be a significant factor in their journey. Finding safety is often the first step towards rebuilding confidence, independence, and hope for the future.
This year, we are especially proud that two members of our team have recently completed their IDVA (Independent Domestic Violence Adviser) training. This investment strengthens our ability to support families affected by domestic abuse, work alongside specialist agencies, and ensure those experiencing abuse receive the guidance, advocacy, and support they need.
By increasing our knowledge and skills, we can continue creating safe spaces where families feel heard, supported, and empowered to move forward with confidence.
Together, we can raise awareness, challenge stigma, and help ensure that no one has to face domestic abuse alone.
💜 If you or someone you know needs support, please remember that help is available.
