We were recently chosen as the nominated charity of Currys PC World in Chester, meaning a fantastic weekend of fundraising inside their store. Thanks to Nathan Wilbraham, one of the store’s employees, who suggested us to store manager Jon Murphy, we were delighted to accept their invitation to join them for three days at the end of September. This came with the promise that we would adorn their entrance with lots of exciting and fun stalls. And we didn’t disappoint! With two tombolas, a cake stall, lucky dip, and a host of fantastic raffle prizes, we had plenty for customers to do on their way in. And with a car wash outside, manned by some very willing volunteers, we were able to cater for even the most hard-pressed visitors to the store (because who doesn’t say no to having their car washed by somebody else for as little as a penny?!).
We were truly grateful to the army of volunteers who made the weekend possible, as well as the incredible donors who gave such amazing prizes for the raffle that enabled us to round off the weekend in style. We were also truly blessed to have such great support from the staff in store, and were particularly pleased to make Amy the very happy recipient of Terence, the lovable protagonist of our name-the-teddy competition. Congratulations also go to our raffle winners, including Gary Hewitt (laptop), Alfie Bailey (Dyson hoover), Eduardo (Tom Tom Sat-nav), and one of our very own trustees, Janet Butler (a bottle of whiskey that I’m sure will go down a treat at Save the Family’s next board meeting!).
Overall, the whole weekend enabled us to raise a fabulous £1000, a nice addition to our Fundraising Wall for 2015. It was such a success in fact that we’ve already been invited back again! Thanks Jon and team; we look forward to it!
